Find a process you can describe
Perhaps you copy weekly prices into a catalogue or transfer enquiries to another system. Record the source, desired output and exceptions. If people follow different rules, agree on the process first.
Test a small example
Importing a few products exposes format errors before a full update. Keep an activity log and a way to reverse changes. Difficult cases can go to manual review rather than silently losing data.
- Who owns incoming data quality?
- How are duplicates and missing values handled?
- Who receives failure notifications?
- How can the process stop and changes be reversed?
Measure the whole benefit
Include checking, corrections and maintenance when assessing saved time. A small reliable tool often helps more than a complex system without a responsible owner.
